Beris Ported Swales Pelham

The Swales Pelham - originating from the driving fraternity, is unique in that it is the only Pelham that removes poll pressure as the cheeks are attached to the inner loose snaffle rings that float on the straight bar type mouthpiece.
The lack of poll pressure emphasizes the action of the curb chain exerting more pressure on the lower jaw lifting which results in lifting the horse in its movement.
Becoming more popular in the showjumping circles the Butterfly mouthpiece give additional tongue pressure in proportion to the curb pressure.
Seen as a strong bit, the Swales is very effective in the right hands and should be ridden double reined and is made more forgiving over the horse's mouth when using the softer density options.

The Ported Mouthpiece - This bit can be placed perfectly in the horse's mouth. The horse's tongue gets enough space because of the flattened area on the port. Many horses react to this with more relaxation and chewing. Therefore this bit is perfect for horses that won't tolerate pressure on the tongue and react with head shaking and such.

At the same time this bit is a good choice for horses that like to play with their tongue and get it over the bit. The port will help to prevent that by removing centre tongue pressure.

Similar to the Pelham, but used with a second rein and curb chain. Recommended for hot and very strong horses.
